Food tech aggregator, Zomato has re-entered the instant food delivery market with its 15 minutes delivery feature reflecting on its app. This is Zomato’s second attempt in the instant food delivery segment after winding up ‘Instant’-its quick food delivery service two years back in January 2023. Further, Zomato also launched ‘Bistro’ from Blinkit, last month.
The Gurugram-based company's 15-minute delivery feature is now live in select locations across cities including Mumbai and Bengaluru. The move marks Zomato's renewed push into the quick food delivery space.
Further, Zomato's return in the quick food delivery market could be seen as a timely response to the burgeoning demand for instant food delivery. Notably, Zepto has already been operational with its ‘Cafe’ service that provides instant food delivery. Similarly, Swiggy is running its instant food delivery services with its ‘Bolt’, Magicpin's ‘MagicNow’ is operational along with Zomato’s Blinkit has ‘Bistro’.
Notably, Zomato had discontinued its 10-minute quick food delivery service, Instant, two years back, after a year of piloting in parts of Delhi, Gurugram, and Bengaluru. At the time, the company issued a statement clarifying that Instant was not shutting down entirely. They mentioned, "We are working on a new menu with our partners and rebranding the business. All finishing stations remain intact, and no people are impacted by this decision."
This move was part of Zomato’s strategy to refine its quick delivery model before it might have reintroduced a new version, now with a 15-minute delivery service in select locations.
