In a new turn of events, Indian foodtech giant Zomato has undergone a rebrand, now known as Eternal. Yesterday, Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal revealed the change in an announcement.
Following the rebranding, the company will house four brands under its ambit. Namely: Zomato, Blinkit, District and Hyperpure.
In the announcement, Goyal said, “We would like to rename Zomato Ltd., the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd. Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to.”
He further added that, the company board has already approved this change and Goyal requested shareholders also to support this change.
With subsequent approvals, the company’s corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com.
“We will also change our stock ticker from ZOMATO to ETERNAL. Eternal will comprise four major businesses (as of now) – Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure,”, he added.
Along with the rebranding announcement, the company has also unveiled a new logo. The name change has come after quite some time since Zomato acquired Blinkit in June 2022. Since then, the company started using the name ‘Eternal’ internally, said Goyal.
After the announcement, the news rapidly gained attention on social media, leaving numerous users confused about how this alteration would affect their beloved food delivery service. While a few were upset by the name change, others believed that Zomato carried more emotion than the new name.
