Swiggy, the leading food and grocery delivery platform in India, is set to launch a standalone app for its quick commerce arm, Instamart.

This move is part of Swiggy's multi-app strategy to cater to evolving customer needs. The standalone app will be available in 76 cities across India.

As reported by the Economic Times, Sriharsha Majety, Group CEO and cofounder of Swiggy, shared that while Instamart will still be available on the main Swiggy app, the new standalone app is designed to offer a more streamlined and convenient user experience.

The company sees significant growth potential for Instamart, with expectations that it could eventually surpass food delivery in terms of size and user adoption.

“While it’s been clear for a while now that Swiggy Instamart is set to match food delivery in size, recent developments show it’s on track to surpass food delivery in both penetration and scale. The positive reception in new cities and categories suggests Instamart could achieve far greater user adoption, going well beyond 100M+ users,” Majety said in a statement.

The announcement follows Swiggy's recent launch of SNACC, a 15-minute food delivery app in Bengaluru. This strategy mirrors the approach of Chinese tech giants including Meituan and Alibaba, who have successfully integrated single and standalone apps to cater to specific use cases.

Majety highlighted that the core Swiggy app will retain its cross-pollination benefits through its integrated membership program and other features.

However, the standalone Instamart app is anticipated to attract a much larger user base, further expanding the company’s reach. Set to launch in a few weeks, this move marks another step in Swiggy’s evolution into a house of apps.
