Country Delight, the milk and grocery platform, has reportedly entered the buzzing quick commerce sector. According to a report by Entrackr, the Gurugram-based startup has launched a pilot program offering 10-15 minute delivery in Gurugram.
Founded in 2013 by Chakradhar Gade and Nitin Kaushal, Country Delight operates in 25 Indian cities, including Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Nashik, and others.
Country Delight’s entry into the q-commerce market highlights its plans to compete with established players including Zepto, Blinkit, and Swiggy Instamart. With operations in 25 cities across India and a strong presence in milk and grocery delivery, the startup’s playbook looks promising in navigating the q-commerce trajectory considering its existing logistics network for rapid delivery services.
Its pilot program in Gurugram with 10-15 minute delivery, suggesting they’re exploring both demand and logistical feasibility. If this proves successful, Country Delight may expand this service to other cities within its existing footprint. Hence, it will be interesting to see how they position themselves in the competitive instant delivery space.
As per The Arc’s report, Country Delight’s revenue reached $164 million in FY24, indicating 46% improvement from FY23’s $112 million. The growth contributors are primarily driven by increased subscription to its milk & grocery items.
Further, the milk & grocery brand raised $8.4 million in debt from Aleteria Capital in August this year.
In a separate development, hyperlocal e-commerce platform Magicpin has forayed into the quick food delivery service called magicNOW. This new offering promises delivery from nearby restaurants within a 1.5–2 km radius in just 15 minutes. The service is set to launch initially in major urban centers, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, and Pune.
Likewise, Ola entered 10-minute food delivery market with 'Ola Dash' in Bengaluru, promising food delivery from select partner restaurants within 10 minutes. An official announcement regarding this new initiative is expected on Wednesday, December 18.
This new move by Ola highlights the company's strategic diversification beyond ride-hailing into delivery services.
Clearly, Magicpin’s magicNOW and Ola's Ola Dash will compete with the likes of Swiggy’s quick food delivery service called Bolt, Zepto’s Zepto Cafe besides Zomato.
The rise of quick commerce in India reflects a mix of technology, changing consumer lifestyles, urbanization, and strategic investments. With a growing demand for convenience, fast delivery timelines, and evolving shopping habits, quick commerce is well-positioned to become a mainstay in the Indian e-commerce market.
According to Mordor Intelligence report, the quick-commerce market in India is estimated at $3.34 billion in 2024, and is expected to reach $9.95 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of greater than 4.5% during 2024-2029.
